Hendy joined Sperry Corporation, Sperry Gyroscope division located in Great Neck, NY in 1973 as Junior\u00a0and Accountant. He was tutored, mentored by management and served in many disciplines throughout\u00a0his career, including pricing and proposal preparation, preparation of labor, overhead and G&A rates,\u00a0cost estimating, purchasing, contracts administration, program financial administration, Earned Value\u00a0Management Systems (EVMS), Foreign Military Sales contracting, accounting and finance.<\/p>\n
He was identified as a high achiever and a key potential management prospect; as a result he was\u00a0transferred to the Sperry Gyroscope Clearwater facility in November of 1977 where he served in key\u00a0management positions including: Manager of Financial Administration and Controls, which included\u00a0contracts and pricing; Director of Finance and Business Administration, which included responsibility for\u00a0the overall accounting function, payroll, Contracts Administration, Export\/Import Compliance,
\nGovernment Compliance, Program Financial Management, and financial reporting. In 1998 he was\u00a0appointed Acting General Manager of the Clearwater facility and was instrumental in winning key\u00a0programs, and critical congressional plus ups for other programs.<\/p>\n
Hendy attended the Advanced Program Management course at Defense Acquisition University, Fort\u00a0Belvore, VA, in 1999. At the conclusion of the course he was awarded a certification in Project\u00a0Management. He possesses expert knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, Foreign Military Sales\u00a0contracting, International Tariff in Arms Regulations, EVMS, and program financial controls.<\/p>\n
Hendy received bachelor degrees in accounting and finance from the University of South Florida in 1981.\u00a0He successfully completed part one (1) of the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam and three\u00a0(3) parts of Certified Public Accounting (CPA) exam. He received specialty training in Cultural Diversity\u00a0and served as trainer for the Hercules Corporate Cultural Diversity Program. He conducted numerous\u00a0training sessions on EVMS to local program personnel and is recognized as the local EVMS expert. He\u00a0received extensive and advanced training in Contracts Management, from Defense Acquisition
\nUniversity and other institutions.<\/p>\n
He is a member of the Society of International Affairs (SIA), Project Management Institute (PMI), an\u00a0alumni of Defense Acquisition University, and the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering\u00a0International (AACEI).
