It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. 73-year-old Emelda Serrant, affectionately known as ‘Evadney, Vadney or Vado’ of Mahaut. She departed this life on Saturday, the 16th of August 2025, at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital. She was preceded in death by:

1 Daughter: Martina Matinez
2 Grandsons: Kyson Martinez and Kylon Williams
5 Sisters: Ophelia Baltazar, Anora Maxwell, Claribel Wallace, Rosemarie Joseph and Valda Lovelock
4 Brothers: Symbert, Matthew‘Ambra’, George and Emile ‘Paben’ Serrant
17 Nieces: Dannette and Ann Anthony in Antigua, Marcel Charles in Guadeloupe, Elucia Parillon and Susan Serrant in the USA, Miranda and Pearly Baltazar, Ellery Howe, Jane-Ann Joseph, Malison McCurdy, Maxime Maxwell, Marcella Richards, Tanisha, Tiara and Pinky Serrant.
18 Nephews: Regel John, Jenson Joseph, Daryle, Darius, Jaden, and Aiden Serrant in the USA. The funeral service of the late Emelda Serrant better known as Vadney will be held at the St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church in Canefield, on Friday 5th of September. The viewing of the body from 1:30 p.m. followed by mass at 2:00 p.m. Interment of the Body will follow at the Mahaut Cemetery.
