
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Vernon Richards, better known as McKenzie of Newtown, who resided at Pond Case. He passed away on July 8th, 2024, at the age of 76.
He was preceded in death by his sons, Italo and Kishon Richards and his brother Kervin Richards.
Vernon leaves to mourn:
His children: Verlyn and Nyerere Richards and their mother Bernadette Florent.
His grand-daughter Italia Richards.
He is also survived by:
His brother: Sherman Richards
His niece and nephews: Agnes, Sharma and Vivian Richards • His sister-in-law: Fanny Richards.
Vernon had very close family to include the Grell, Clarendon, Williams and Butler Families including Oliver, Hannah, Kelly, Dale, Shakes and Angela Fostine and family. He was also related to the Charles, René, and Richards families from Newtown and the Cadets, Felix, Casimir, and Matthews families from Morne Jaune.
He will be remembered lovingly by:

Vernon was also a former employee of DOMLEC and one of the first members of the Harlem Football Team.
The funeral service for the late Vernon Richards better known as McKensie will be held Friday 19th July 2024 at the Roseau Cathedral Chapel at 3:00 pm. Viewing will be at 2:30 pm. Burial will be at the Roseau Catholic Cemetery. May his soul rest in peace.
