Edward Lawson Downey

DOWNEY – We honor the life of EDWARD LAWSON DOWNEY, age 79 of Loganville, GA entered eternal rest on Saturday morning, November 29, 2025. Edward was also known as “TED” or “Jack Birkenshaw” among family and friends.
He was born on April 10th, 1946 in Hillaby, St. Andrew, Barbados to the late Gerald Dial and Verdine Downey. Husband of Letitia Downey (53 years of marriage). Father of Allen Downey (Orange Hill), Shean Downey (Kingsland Terrace), Verdine Downey (NYC), Nicole Holder (GA) and Ted Downey (GA). Father-in-law of Andersos Holder (Spring Farm). Grandfather of 10. Great-grandfather of three. Brother of Charlie Downey (Shop Hill), Marva Moaze (Hillaby) and the late Orson Downey (Warrens). Uncle, cousin and friend of many. A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at the chapel of Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 2:00 p.m. followed by the interment. Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home no later than 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. No mourning colours by special request.
