Celestine Ough
With deep love and gratitude, we announce the passing of Celestine Ough, 74, of Ottawa, Ontario. Celestine died peacefully on July 17, 2026, surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Barrie; daughters, Jackie (Kirk) and Thelma (Neil); and her brothers, George (Tamisha) and Birkby (Minerva).
Celeste was born in Barbados, West Indies and moved to Manitoba, Canada in 1970. She brought her signature zest for life to each city, relocating across Canada numerous times with her military husband and family before happily settling in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1986.
Her passions were caring for her family, volunteering and gardening. Celeste found immense joy in giving back to her community. She volunteered at Heron Emergency Food Centre for over 18 years.
Celeste touched the hearts of many with her kindness and a vibrant spirit. To know Celeste was to know exactly where you stood with her. She knew what she wanted out of life and didn’t shy away from telling you, but she possessed a rare gift: she delivered her honesty with such a lighthearted, joyful spirit that you couldn’t help but smile.
