KAREN ELAINE AUSTIN, aged 60, born in Manchester, United Kingdom and a resident of Pillersdorf Drive, Enterprise, Christ Church entered into rest on June 20, 2023. Among many other accomplishments, Karen was the Managing Director at DAYS Bookstore.
Daughter of the late Keith Winston Austin and the late Sheila Elaine Austin.
Friend of Patsina Greenidge, Heather Holmes, Daphne Jordan, Octavia Findlay, Ouida Murrell, the Pillersdorf Drive community, the DAYS Bookstore family, and countless others.
A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Friday, July 7, 2023 at St. Peter’s Parish Church, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 2:00 p.m. The cortege will then proceed to Mount Pleasant Memorial Gardens for the interment. Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home no later than 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The body of the late Karen Austin will repose in the Colin Parkinson Memorial Chapel, Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Thursday, July 6, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

Rest well my sweet friend. It's hard to believe it's been almost 10 years to this day we met at my book signing at Days Bookstore. We first bonded by phone and were connected immediately upon meeting. Two British Bajans with a love of books and the Lord. I'm so glad we got to be friends and experience the joy of always encouraging each other. You are truly missed. I do know without a doubt that Heaven is even more organized and well-structured since you arrived. Thank you again and we are praying for your family and your bookstore family too. I extend my deepest sympathies to Karen's family. I did not know her well, however, one day we arranged to meet at Days Bookstore for her to receive books that a friend in Canada had written. Karen was engaging, helpful, and always available to take my calls. She has left us too soon. On behalf of Pat Fitzpatrick-Hardt of Montreal, Canada and Tessa Chaderton-Shaw, we extend our deepest sympathies and pray that you will all find peace, courage, strength and the ability to release her into God's arms where she will be warmly received. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

It is with deep sorrow that I offer my condolences. Although I knew she was battling this illness a second time around my heart still hurts. Karen was always positive when we communicated and fought valiantly. Her precious parents await her. She loved hymns and told me that her favourites were Onward Christian Soldier and Fight the Good Fight which I believed she did. I first met Karen when her parents brought her to Barbados more than 30 years ago. I had met my British cousin and likewise she her Bajan cousin. Over the years, whenever we met up we would laugh hysterically at the Bajan saying, "waste not, want not" always trying to figure out exactly what it meant. Her mother (my aunt) thought we were silly when we would have looked at each other and bust out laughing. I will miss getting together for lunch whenever I visited Barbados. I don't know why her obituary reads like she has no family, but I will forever cherish our cousinhood. Rest well Karen💕 the first resurrection awaits you.

Rest well my gym buddy. Walk good. Deepest sympathy to her family and friends. Unfortunately I cannot pay my respects in person, but I will be there in spirit.
