Anthony White
Anthony Wilbur White, aged 84, late of Homestead, Marine Gardens, Ch. Ch. passed away on August 16, 2023.
Tony played and represented the island creditably for Carlton and in particular for Pickwick in BCA competitions from 1957 to 1967. He was also chosen by the West Indian selectors in 1963 to play against England as part of Frank Worrellโs squad. He was selected for the West Indies team in 1965 to play against the Australians with a top score of 57 in the first test at Sabina Park. He is remembered as a fine all-rounder who could bowl right-arm medium pace off-cutters for several hours on end, could field brilliantly anywhere, and could hit the ball with awesome power to all parts of the ground. Following a private cremation, a public Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at The Chapel of Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens. Mourning colours optional.
