Alexander Gilmour Dunbar

DUNBAR – ALEXANDER (ALEX) GILMOUR, aged 94, died peacefully in hospital in Halifax, Canada, on March 10, 2017.
Son of the late Margaret and James Dunbar, he is survived by his wife, Marjorie of Halifax. He was the loving father of Hilary Bethell (Patrick) of Barbados, and Laurence (Laurie) of Ottawa; devoted brother of Margaret (Peggie) Hart, of England; cherished grandfather of Daniel Bethell (Fiona) of Barbados; Jennifer Dunbar (Jeffrey) and Kristen Dunbar Tobin (Ryan) of Ottawa; adored great-grandfather of Christal and Catherine; and beloved uncle of Robin Smith (Paul) of England and her two sons, Tom and James. Alex is loved and will be missed by all in the Bethell and Dunbar families, and by his many friends and fellow Rotarians.
His ashes will be interred in the Wall of Remembrance in the Barbados Military Cemetery after a short ceremony at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 06, 2017. Mourning colours optional. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Barbados Poppy League or the Barbados Military Cemetery.
