Doris Elmina Brathwaite

DORIS ELMINA BRATHWAITE also known as โ€œMAโ€ was born in Valley Land St, George to the late Geraldine Brathwaite and Christopher Lawerance on November 19, 1929, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2026. She was a member of St. Georgeโ€™s Parish Church Mothers Union.
She was fondly referred to as โ€œMaโ€ not only by her family but by individuals, throughout Glebe land, Valley Land and Salters. One of her favorite things to do on Sunday afternoons was to take a bus ride around the island with friends simply to relax. She was a member of St Georgeโ€™s Parish Church where she served for many years as part of the Mothers Union.

Mother of Randolph (USA), Brenda Howell, Vonda, Errol, Hartley, Monica Brathwaite-Williams, Joycelyn (USA), Anderson, Richard (Canada), Glendon, Jacqueline (USA) and the late Eureen Brathwaite-Wiltshire (USA).
Grandmother of Ricardo, Denise, Everton, Cheryll, Allison, Corey, Petriana, Janelle, Shakeelah, Shamir, Shontelle, Cathy, Keisha, Jonathan, Shawn, Judith, Allison, Gail, Ryan, Erin, Dwayne, Akeem, Jalisa, Camile, Latalya, Keisha (Y), Latoya and the late Carlyne (Pet).
Great-grandmother of Sakinah, Keril, Ahmalla, Shanisha, Krystal, Rickayla, Ricardo, Kamron, Kyra, Demitrius Darrius, Damaris, Shawayne, Chavez, Rinako, Corryn, Chloe, Shawayne (B), Amari and Angelique.
Great great-grandma of Nyah, Kalliyah, Hime, Milani and Cairo.
Sister of Lucille Brathwaite, George Rock and the late George, Gilbert and Alfred Brathwaite.
Mother-in-Law of Carmen Brathwaite, Carlson Howell, Carlson Wilshire, Hassel Williams and Lenox Cox.
Relative of the Brathwaite, Callender, Cox, Gittens, Gooding, Osburne, Rowe, and Thornhill families.
Friend of Silma Morrison and too many to mention.

A service of thanksgiving will be held on Friday, March 6, 2026 at St. George Parish Church, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 3:00 p.m. followed by the interment. Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home no later than 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The body of the late Doris Brathwaite will repose at Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 4:00-6:00 p.m.
