LEACOCK – It’s with great sadness that we announce the death of GERTRUDE ARNETTA, affectionately known as “Netta”, aged 88, of Coconut Grove, St. Joseph, who entered peacefully into rest at home on April 24, 2024.
Daughter of the late Inez Leacock and George Quintyne. Mother of Coreen, Tyrone, Lionel, Sidlow, Sharon and Margaret Leacock, Ruth Boyce, and the late Janet Downes and Evadney Leacock. Grandmother of 22. Great-grandmother of 17. Sister of the late Adolphus, Harold and Ernista Leacock. Aunt of Cynthia Griffith, Lester and Kenneth Leacock and Denise Williams. Cousin of Anthony, Kenneth, and Rupert Leacock (Canada), and many others. Mother-in-law of Cyril Boyce and Dr. Gloria Dunder-Leacock (USA). Relative of the Leacock, Kellman, Quintyne, Cumberbatch and Holder families. Friend of Dorita Deane, the congregation of Coconut Grove Wesleyan Holiness Church and many others.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Faith Wesleyan Holiness Church, Jackman’s St. Michael, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 1:00 p.m. The cortege will then proceed to St. Joseph Cemetery for the interment. Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home no later than 10:00 a.m. on Friday. The body of the late Gertrude Leacock will repose in the Colin Parkinson Memorial Chapel, Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
