GLORIA YVONNE BAILEY Nร‰E STRAUGHN, aged 77, originally of #1 Hothersal Turning, St. Michael entered into rest on February 24, 2026 at the Geriatric Hospital, St Michael. Retired House Manager for Dr. Marilyn and Bruce Harris. Former Member of the St Matthewโ€™s Church Choir and Mothersโ€™ Union, the National Organization of Women (NOW) and The Rita G Grand Chapter of the Prince Hall Lodge.
Daughter of the late Muriel and Albert Straughn.
Wife of Charles Walter Bailey.
Mother of Charles Andrew Bailey and the late Lydia Bailey.
Grandmother of Nicholai and Gabrielle Bailey, Kaisha Reid and Nathan Graham.
Sister of Randolph, Grantley, Joyce and Michael Straughn, Beverley Fields, Theodore Mann and the late Vashti Straughn.
Aunt and cousin of many.
Sister-in-law of Violet Phillips, Phyllis Yearwood, the late Dorothy, Sinclair, Gay, Ainsley and Adessa Bailey.
Godmother of Dwayne Yearwood and many others.
Relative of the Straughn, Bailey, Branch, Spencer, Standard, Fenty, Hinkson, Collins, Fields (U.S.A), Mann (U.K), Yearwood (U.K) and Phillips (Canada) families.
Friend of Rosetta Mayers, Marva Taylor, Loretta Yearwood, the Sandiford and Catlyn families, The Parish family of St Matthewโ€™s the Resurrection and many others.
A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at St. John Parish Church where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 3:00 p.m. followed by the interment. Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home no later than 12:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mourning colours are optional. Members of the Motherโ€™s Union and Prince Hall Lodge are invited to wear their regalia. The body of the late Gloria Bailey will repose in the St. Matthewโ€™s Anglican Church on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 4:00 โ€“ 6:00 p.m.

May all of you be strengthened at this difficult time. God promised to never leave you or forsake you so hold on to that promise. Rest is Peace Gloria and Rise in Glory. To Walter and Andrew and all the grand children and to Randolph, Margo, Rosie, Michael Joyce and Glenroy draw even closer to each other as your mourn this loss.

I worked with Gloria as a member and committee secretary of NOW, during her time as President. It was a pleasure being on her executive, she was such a humble, down to earth lady. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.
