Irene White

It is with great sadness that the family of IRENE WHITE neѐ Frere, affectionately known as “Waple”, announces her passing on Sunday 22nd August at the age of 89. Irene, from Salters, St George, resided at The View Home for Seniors for a few months before passing away peacefully at the QEH after a brief illness.

She will be fondly remembered by her children Christina, Edmund and Maxine, and her seven grandchildren – Shernelle, Andre, Stephan, Darren, Danielle, Dominique and Joshua. Irene is pre-deceased by her son Steven and her daughter Daphne. Irene spent a number of years in the UK, working various roles – first nursing, then hairdressing, and working for the Royal Mail. On relocating back home to Barbados she re-trained as a hairdresser and ran her business Essence Beauty Clinic in Bridgetown for a number of years until retirement. She spent her later years tending her garden at her home in St George and caring for her partner Neville before his passing in 2021.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at St. George Parish Church where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. followed by the interment. Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home no later than 8:00 a.m. on Thursday.
