Gulstone McFarrel (Mac) Howard, aged 73, late of Welches Terrace, St. Thomas, formerly of Free Hill, St. Michael and Rosegate, St. John went to his heavenly home on December 21, 2022.
Retired Senior Tutor (BCC), Assistant Chief Examiner (CXC), Former teacher (St. George Secondary School).
Loving husband of Cynthia Howard (Queen’s College).
Caring father of Lisa S. Howard (Crane Resorts).
Son of Leonora Elitha Howard and the late Bishop Livingstone Fitzgerald Howard of Illinois, USA and formerly of Rosegate, St. John.
Brother of Oswald (Marion), Timothy (Sophia) and Stephen Howard, Dorothy McCalister (George), Heather Wood (Shirley), Ruth Howard-Dillard (USA).
Son-in-law of the late Estelle and Athelstan Cumberbatch.
Brother-in-law of Caroline and Cameron Cumberbatch, Jocelyn Burton, Hyacinth Small, Hazael McCollin.
Nephew of Sybil Grimes and Ina Knight.
Uncle of Tracy Howard, Michael McCalister, Jessica, Julia and Erica Wood, Raphael and Timon Howard, Amara, Steven, Zemira, Zaria and Aaron Dillard.
Cousin of Adrian, Ian, Marcia, Michelle, Anthea, Tonya, and Beverly Waithe, Michelle Waithe-Primus, Pat Murray, Julia Murray-Shepherd, Hal and Roderick Prescod, Ivor, Carl, Tyronne and Fonteen Grimes, Cephus, Maurice and Rodney Sealey, Celvin Williams and Ann Ward.
Adoptive father of Sasha Taylor-Gill.
Relative of the Howard, Sealey, Waithe, Wood and Glasgow families.

A service of praise and thanksgiving will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens Chapel, The Ridge, Christ Church where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 2:00 p.m. for the service followed by the interment. The family requests masks to be worn.
Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home no later than 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Viewing of the body of the late G. McFarrel Howard will take place at the Colin Parkinson Memorial Chapel, Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Friday, January 13, 2023 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.

It was a pleasure working with him as a colleague at St George Secondary. I always found him to be a quiet, intellectual and problem solver. Sincere condolences to Cynthia, Lisa and his family on behalf of myself and the entire Rhynd family. May he rest in peace.

Our beloved brother Howard would be sadly missed but fondly remembered for the godly life he has lived, the love he has lavished on his family and others, and for the legacy he has left in our hearts. We thank God that we shall meet with our precious Lord and our loved ones again

We are thankful to our Heavenly Father for the Life of brother Mc Howard and his service and commitment to the work of his Master. He reminded us of the virtues of gentleness and told us by demonstration that passion can be controlled. His two “diplomatic journeys” to Guyana in querulous times displayed his character and confirmed his suitability for the role. The grace of God had made him into a competent helper. Although he did not gain all he desired, he showed the way to peaceful resolution of matters and for this we will be thankful.
The saints in Barbados would doubtlessly miss his smiles and genuine laughter; Campers his kindness in service; and we all the lovely kind of man he had become. May the comfort of our Heavenly Father be known by his dear wife, Cynthia and daughter Lisa and also by all for whom he had been in many roles along their journey.

Our hearts are with you and we wish we could be there in person. However circumstances prevent us from being there, but we are praying for you all. In spite of the sense of personal loss, we can rejoice in the fact that Mac is in the presence of the Lord whom he so faithfully served, and away from the pain and suffering we often experience in these bodies of clay.
