Mavis Harney

MAVIS MARGUERITE HARNEY, CSM, SRN, SCM , of No. 12, South Ridge, Christ Church, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2019, having recently celebrated her 100th birthday.
Elder sister of Dr. Lenore Harney-Blake of St. Kitts, the late Mabel Elaine Harney-Meade of Montserrat and the late Yvonne Summers of England. Much loved aunt of Alison Lythgoe and Linda Summers of England.
Founding Member of the Caribbean Nurses’ Organization, Ms. Harney had lived and worked throughout the Caribbean, the U.K. and the Middle East, settling on retirement in Barbados.
The funeral leaves Lyndhurst Funeral Home, Passage Road, St. Michael on Monday, January 13, 2020 for the Hawthorn Methodist Church, Christ Church, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 2:00 p.m. for the service. The cortege will then proceed to St. David Anglican Church, Christ Church for the interment.

I meet Mavis at a meeting held by the American Women's Club of Barbados. Being new to Barbados Mavis was there for me.
