TOPPIN NÉE BELLERAND – RITA MARTHA, aged 98, of Homestead, Spooner’s Hill, St Michael, entered peacefully into rest on Monday, March 11, 2019. Widow of the late Lionel Sarsfield Toppin. Mother of Lionel, Patrick and Andy Toppin, Lelia Lord and the late Andrea Quinton. Mother-in-Law of Betty Brathwaite. Grandmother of Jason, Rochelle, Graham, Danielle, Tamara, Graham, Philip, Andrea and Peter Toppin, Kathy Cezont, Delamiko Bey, Justin Quinton, Adanna Thomas, Machi Humphrey and the late Jomo Lord. Great-grandmother of 15. Great-great-grandmother of 1. Cousin of Stanley Johnson (Washington), Marjorie Marsie-Hazen (Jamaica) and the late Ben Johnson (Italy). Relative of the Bellerand, Johnson, Jennings, Manette and Simmons families. Friend of the Haynes (Woodbrook, Trinidad), Belgrave, Deane, Hunte and Miller families, Romona Kissoon, Wendy Newton, Joyce Charles, Dr Michael Charles, Sharon Ishmael-Ward, and many, many more.
The funeral leaves Lyndhurst Funeral Home, Passage Road, St Michael, on Thursday, March 21, 2019, for Our Lady Queen of the Universe Catholic Church, Black Rock, St Michael, where relatives and friends are asked to meet for a requiem mass at 10:00 a.m. The cortege will then proceed to the Westbury Cemetery for the interment. The organist and members of the church choir are asked to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Barbados Association for Cancer Advocacy would be graciously accepted. The body of the late Rita Martha Toppin will repose in the Colin Parkinson Memorial Chapel, Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
