CARRINGTON, J.P. – RUBEN SYLVESTER, better known as “Ben”, aged 77, of Bridgefield, St. Thomas, entered peacefully into rest on June 4, 2024. Retired Ranger at Harrison’s Cave and NCC. Widower of Lorraine Carrington. Son of the late Elise and Gordon Carrington. Father of Rosemary Holder-Herbert (Hilton), Yvonne Holder (Bowtie Café) and Sherry Carter (CIBC Caribbean). Grandfather of Shekara Straker, Shey and Shekai Roachford and Nigel Holder. Brother of Randolph Hoyte (Canada) and Gregg Carrington. Uncle of Fabian Morris and Debbieanne Carrington-Alleyne. Nephew of Clarestine Clarke. Father-in-law of Victor Herbert. Relative of the Gaskin, Butcher, Layne, Lovell, Brathwaite, Bowen and Carrington families. Friend of Ervin Yearwood, Joanne Jones, Derek Sargeant, David Trotman, Scoffield Clarke, St Clair Layne, Alfred Burnett, The Honorable Cynthia Forde M.P, members of the Bridgefield, Belair and Market Hill communities and others too numerous to mention. A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024 at the Pentecostal Fellowship Church, Bridgefield, St. Thomas, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 2:00 p.m. The cortege will then proceed to St. James Cemetery for the interment. Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home no later than 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The body of the late Ruben “Ben” Carrington will repose in the Colin Parkinson Memorial Chapel, Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
