SEYMOUR MacDONALD NURSE, SCM age 85, of #62 Callenders Crescent, Christ Church formerly of Wavel Avenue, Black Rock, St. Michael, retired peacefully into rest on Monday, May 06, 2019 at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.  Former Barbados and West Indies Cricketer. Retired Cricket Coach of the National Sports Council. Member of Empire Sports Club, Barbados Cricket League (BCL), Marylebone Cricket Club (London) and Cricket Legends of Barbados, Honorary Member of Carlton Cricket Club, Life Vice President of the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) and Life Member of the Barbados Turf Club.

Son of the late Cameron and Enid Goddard.

Husband of the late Lorraine Nurse.

Father of twin daughters Roseanne Nurse (USA) and Cherylanne Nurse (Canada).

Uncle of Sherwin Nurse, Carson Cumberbatch, Grace Sealy, Tyrone, Ricardo (Cracker), Valma and Allan Goddard (Canada), Mona Holder, Lindsay and Andrew Goddard.

Cousin of Yvonne, Ronald, Robert and Cecilia Nurse and Grace Edghill (USA).

Relative of the Lewis, Kellman and Cheltenham families.

Friend of Sir Wes Hall, Sir Everton Weekes, Sir Charles Griffith, Sir Garfield Sobers, Sir David Simmons, Rawle Brancker and family, Nina and Peter Lashley, Marva and David Holford, Desmond Haynes, Calvin Hope, Gordon Greenidge, Conde Riley, Annette and Grantley Sealy, Anthony Pickering, Hazel Barker, Jack Husbands (BVI). The funeral leaves Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Friday, May 17, 2019, for The Kensington Oval, where relatives, friends and cricket supporters are asked to meet at 9:.30 a.m. for the service. The cortege will then proceed to Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens, The Ridge, Christ Church for the interment. Flowers may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home, no later than 11:00 a.m on Friday. Donations towards The Artificial Kidney Unit of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital will be graciously accepted in Mr. Nurse’s honour. The body of the late Seymour Nurse will repose at the Empire Cricket Club, Bank Hall, St. Michael on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. and at The Cricket Legends of Barbados on Thursday, May 16, 2019 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
