THE RIGHT EXCELLENT SIR GARFIELD ST. AUBURN SOBERS, OCC – NATIONAL HERO OF BARBADOS

Aged 89, formerly of #16 Walcott’s Avenue, Bayville, St. Michael, entered peacefully into rest on July 17, 2026 at his residence, Highgate Gardens, St. Michael.

Beloved son of the late Shermont and Thelma Sobers.
Partner of the late Jackie White.
Devoted father of Matthew, Daniel and Genevieve Sobers.
Adoptive father of Stuart and Trisha White.
Cherished grandfather of Tristan, Aidan, Dylan and Gabriel Sobers, Sienna Serville-Sobers, Tianna Hollingsworth and Jalisa Sobers-Franklyn.
Adoptive grandfather of Chloe and Arianna White.
Brother of Cecil (Saul) Sobers and the late Greta Jarvis, Rita Elise Crane, George and Gerald Sobers.
Uncle of David, Kevin, Justin, Emma, Mark and Natisha Sobers, Sonia and Anthony Jarvis, Andrea, John and Sharon Crane (USA).
Great-uncle of Erica Osbourne, Lamar Sobers, Antoni Waterman, Nicholas and Anaia Sobers (Barbados), Eboni Ross (Guyana), Sarah, Sydney, Connor, Benjamin, Emma and Maxwell Crane, Daniel and Elizabeth Scrubbla (USA).

The State Funeral of The Right Excellent Sir Garfield Sobers will take place at the Kensington Oval, Fontabelle, St. Michael on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. All attendees are asked to be seated by 8:45 a.m. The cortege will then proceed to Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens, The Ridge, Christ Church for the interment. Floral tributes may be sent to Lyndhurst Funeral Home, Passage Road, St. Michael, no later than 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
