SUTHERLAND – WAKEFIELD LEROY, aged 92, of 109 Welches Terrace, St. Michael, entered into rest on September 7, 2022. Member of the Barbados Astronomy Society and spent many of his years providing service to Harry Bayley Observatory.
Husband of Sylvia Sutherland. Father of Mark Sutherland (dec’d), Mava Hollands (Liverpool) and Derek Sutherland (Florida). Grandfather of Marc, Michael, Michelle, Annamar and Gavin Sutherland, Dorion Cimron, Damian Leadbetter and Nichola Burrows. Great–grandfather of 9. Step-father of Harcourt Babb. Brother of the late Joan Parker. Uncle of Christopher and Anne Parker. Father-in-law of Charlie Hollands & Hannah Sutherland. Brother-in-law of the late Leslie (Uk). Cousin of many. Relative of the Moseley family. Friend of James Carter and many others.
A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at the chapel of Coral Ridge Memorial Gardens, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. for the service. A private cremation will take place at a later date. No flowers by special request. The body of the late Wakefield Leroy Sutherland will repose in the Colin Parkinson Memorial Chapel, Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 28 2022 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Kindly note that all COVID-19 protocols will be in effect.

Sending our deepest condolences and warmest prayers for my dear cousin and family. We will always smile when we think of the wonderful times spent together in Barbados and on his many New York City visits. He is forever in our hearts.
