Should I Choose a Burial or a Cremation
Burial in a casket is the most common method of disposing of remains in Barbados. Cremation is increasingly selected because it can be less expensive and allows for the memorial service to be held at a more convenient time in the future when relatives and friends can come together. A funeral service followed by cremation need not be any different from a funeral service followed by a burial.
Why Should I Have a Public Viewing
Viewing is a part of many cultural and ethnic traditions. Many grief specialists believe that viewing aids the grief process by helping the bereaved recognize the reality of death. Viewing is encouraged for children, as long as the process is explained and the activity is voluntary.
How Many Death Certificates Should I Order
The number of official Death Certificates you will need to order will depend on the institutions that you will need to notify of your loved one’s death. Official Death Certificates are needed to deal with Insurance companies, Banks, Lawyers and Utility companies. You can order as many as you think you may need initially because you can always have some re-ordered.
How to Deal with their Social Media
Most social media platforms have procedures for this situation. The Telegraph UK has written an article covering this here.
What Do I Need for the National Insurance Funeral Grant
The Funeral Grant is given to the individual who has paid the funeral expenses. You will need to present the National Insurance with original Death Certificates, original receipt(s) showing payment of $1,000.00 or over and the Application form. The receipt(s) must be in the name of the person who is claiming for the Grant.
