I am deeply saddened to hear of Carl's death, he was my Troop Sgt in The Depot Regiment Royal Corps of Transport from early 1975 to July 1976. He was an excellent Troop Sgt, a fellow member of the Depot Regiment Rugby Team, a very fine cricketer and a good friend! I managed to drop in on him when he was RSM 10 Regiment in Germany to have a lengthy chat. I was delighted to see an article in the British Army's Soldier Magazine when he had become Force Sgt Maj of the Barbados Defence Force. He was preparing for a visit by Her Majesty The Queen and the article made great play about his having attended the Drill Course at The Guards Depot. I had to smile as I knew his views on the course! The family of The Royal Corps of Transport has lost a fine man and a great character with his passing! My wife and I would like to extend our sincere condolences to all his family and friends for their sad loss!
