To the family of Ezra Ederson Alleyne:

Ezra was a charming and polite man, putting one at ease despite the huge gap in intellect. I will miss his mischievous grin and the conspiratorial manner of his sly asides.
He once told me that he wanted to write a novel. It is a pity he never got to do this.

Thank you for lending him to the country and to The Nation,

Yours sincerely, David Harding
