NEWTON – JOSEPH SYLVESTER, aged 55, better known as ‘Joe’ or ‘Piggy’ of Black Rock St. Michael and formerly of Gemswick St. Philip ended his earthly journey on January 31, 2021. He was a self-employed contractor. Son of Evelyn Callender and Merton Newton (USA). Father of Hasani Newton (student of UWI). Brother of Corene Bradshaw (USA), Rawle, William, Sherlene and Marvelle Callender, Shawn Newton and Nicole Newton-Johnson (both of the USA). Nephew of Alvin Callender, Granville and Joseph Newton, Winston, Levi, David, Gordon and Godfrey Newton, Anna Rice (all of the USA), Valerie Springer (Canada), Matilda Robinson and the late Eugene Sargeant, Sylvan Callender, Oneta Robinson and Douglas Newton. Companion of Latoya Volney-Quallis. Uncle of Trinisha Farrell, Gershon Shepherd, Tanisha, Akem, Rojaisha and Jamali Callender, Jahvon and Janay Newton (USA), Tanner and Griffen Johnson (USA). Cousin of many. Ex-husband of Wendy Newton. Relative of the Callender, Newton, Sargeant, Robinson, Rice and Mayers families. Friend of Dave Cumberbatch, Emmerson Turpin, Albert Best, The Princess Margaret Old Scholars Class of ’82, the Belfield community and many others.
