I extend heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family and extended family of the late Lareene Smith- known as "Sister Smith" by a long list of physicians who passed through the Dept of paediatrics at the QEH. She was a stalwart in the newborn nursing area, and an outstanding team leader on the Team, be it in her quiet way, and got the job done. We worked together for some decades in a consultant paediatrician - nurse relationship. She made an outstanding contribution, being a vital and integral part of the health care Team in the NICU for decades and role in the Parent NICU Charity.

She undoubtably gave her best and rendered a high level of care, and commitment, competence and dedication, in her career as a specialist nurse. Exemplary service to that particular demographic, of children of Barbados. We are indebted to her for her tireless and selfless effort and vital role played impacting and influencing the life of the vulnerable and extremely fragile newborns infants of Barbados in her professional capacity, Well done, Lareeene.. Gone but not to be forgotten.
