OTHNIEL DEVERE GITTENS, aged 83, of Welches Terrace, St. Thomas, entered into rest on, November 5 2025. Founder of Ideal Optical Supplies & Services Inc. and its subsidiary company, Visual Oasis Inc.
Son of the late Clarine Gittens-Yarde and Terrance Piggott.
Stepson of the late Graham Yarde.
Husband of Juel Gittens.
Father of Mitchell Gittens (Alicia) and Cliff Gittens (Kayla).
Grandfather of Chylo Pierce and Kalum Gittens.
Brother of Jeannette Bovell (the late Hyvesta), Merline Mayers (Shurland), the late Gloria Gittens USA.
Roberta Jones (Martin), Rheudol Joey Brewster (Doreen), Robert Piggott (Mya), Rodney Piggott (Sheena), and Rupert Piggott.
Uncle of Kevin, Belfield, Curtis (USA), Wayne, Shawn, Corey, Dwight, Dario, Resha, Ebony, Emily, Genesis, Tara and Destineรฉ.
Cousin of Shirrell, Shirley Small and family, John Gaskin, Donnette, Mervin, Erland and John Drayton, Keith Gittens and family, Alva Ward, Margaret Stephen, Yvonne, Jackie, Denny Gittens and family and many others.

A service of celebration and thanksgiving will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at The Chapel of Coral Ridge, where relatives and friends are asked to meet at 10:00 a.m. followed by a cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Barbados Association for the Blind are graciously accepted. The body of the late Othniel Gittens will repose in the Colin Parkinson Memorial Chapel, Lyndhurst Funeral Home on Tuesday, November18, 2025, from 4:00 โ€“ 6:00 p.m.
