I just wanted to pass on a few memories of Pete - he was an extraordinary stepfather to both Zoe & myself - despite the circumstances of the relationship with Jane (my Mother)
Pete : Zoe & myself always retained a special part of each other's lives.
The Sunday afternoons with his stamp collection: walking to Bottom Bay & Harrismith Beach with the Dobermans: visiting Bisley and his exceptional year when he (with the team) beat those pesky Australians & New Zealanders .. a proud moment in his life.
He used to take Zoe up to Codrington on a Sunday evening - precious quality time which Zoe still talks about.
Every time I visited Barbados - we always met - restaurant evenings and never out before 11.45pm - not sure the staff were always happy ...but I was.
I'm so glad that Zoe (in particular) & myself kept in touch - he had such a nice touch which I don't think everybody knew about. His phone calls which started when he called and were usually prolonged even when we thought we had finished...that was Pete.
Talk to him about Burgundy wine and champagne and his eyes would light up - he loved
to discuss the merits of wine & champagne.
Another favourite was Bendicks chocolate - I have a special Christmas edition box at home which I was going to bring over for him - at least now I can think about him every
time I pick one.
Gosh - so many more things but I know you are busy.
I almost forgot - the trademark chuckle. That was Pete.
I've known you since early days so may I sign off (without causing offence) by saying

Topic: Grieving Differently with COVID 19
In this Social Work Season 2021 of Love and Loss ... Sunday March 21 takes us to a place of 'Loss'
'Ubuntu' I am because We are standing on the foundation built by Social Worker Legends. Much of today is being built on COVID 19. It has caused much delayed grief, new funeral arrangements and new fears to enter a funeral home or to touch a loved one.
To take us through this COVID 19 Grieving differently is Mr. Peter Griffith, Funeral Director of Lyndhurst Funeral Home.
