Dear Sir Kyffin
We were deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Peter.

As a young engineer seconded to D M Simpson in the 1970s from Fletcher Smith in the UK, Peter was a great support to me during my time working in Barbados and the islands.

It was during this time I learnt of our mutual interest in philately and he sparked my interest in the history of the sugar industry both locally and in the region.

Over the years we have met up with Peter on his UK visits and on our many visits to Barbados. We enjoyed our trips around the island with Peter visiting old mills and learning something new and interesting each time. His knowledge of the history of the island was fascinating and he would also include his own family history.

We kept in touch at other times by telephone (usually long chats) and prior to our visits he would give me his shopping list of items he required from Stanley Gibbons Stamps in London and spare parts to repair his carriage clocks.

Peter was always a joy to chat with and we visited his home many times during our vacations in Barbados. We will miss his jovial nature and smile.

Our thoughts at this sad time are with all his family and we send our deepest condolences.
